At the beginning of the year, I served water in short glasses. Mainly to persuade people to buy something to drink.
Next I switched to tall glass with a lot of ice. Thinking the ice would melt and hold them over longer.
But no. This didn’t work either.
Now I use less ice and fill it with more water.
Occasionally people ask me to fill a water bottle. A Stanley or Hydroflask type.
Monday, someone asked me to fill their bottle. I agreed to.
And that’s when it started.
I swear the bottles got larger as each person asked. Having seen me fill one bottle.
Then when I thought the nonsense was over, the bottles got smaller until I was attempting to fill an empty Smart Water bottle.
Enough! I thought to myself. This is ridiculous! When I was younger, we just walked around thirsty I guess. Because I don’t recall needing to be hydrated so much. Unless a hose was nearby.
It’s against health code to fill a water bottle. Even though I never touch the water nozzle to the bottle opening, I decide I’m going with this. My kindness having been tested and pushed to the limits.
On Tuesday when a passenger asks me to fill a water bottle, I am ready with my response. “I can’t do that but I can give you a glass of water”.
She agrees to this. Given no choice.
When I bring her the glass of water, she proceeds to pour it in her water jug.
I can’t win here.
The phrase “ice water” is beginning to be a trigger for me. Lol 😂
Good luck to me today. Wednesday. It’s a long DEX day from Whittier to Denali!
Stay hydrated!
