I have three days off. Derek is working. He is currently southbound to Whittier. The first month takes awhile to get us on the same schedules. Derek handles this better than me lol. We planned to work together and it is hard for me to pivot. Which is interesting given that my life has been ine big pivot lol.
Yesterday I hit up some thrift shops and Costco. The first thrift shop smelled so strongly of moth balls and ammonia that I had to leave. I’m thrifting for fun. Not for survival. I don’t need some strange lung disease lol 😂. It’s been warmer up here this summer and I’m wearing my black quilted vest often. So I purchased two more. A nice orange one with vivid blue edging and a grey one.
I also got Henry the train engine he wanted that was just like the train i ride. He is proud of me. Hudson wanted something from a videoo game. I will have to ask his Mom because I didn’t understand. Some sort of video money?
Costco was fun. I thought I’d get ice cream but hit the timing wrong. Virtually everyone in Anchorage was there. I did get some cute pajamas because at the homestead I’ve been cold at night.
I also got some canned vodka lemonade which was too sweet.
For dinner I went to 49th State Brewery. They have a phenomenal rooftop and great food and drink. Unfortunately it was windy and I don’t like being outside for that. I sat at the bar and sipped my raspberry vodka soda. It didn’t taste as good as it did last year. It’s too sweet. I guess I am getting old because “it’s too sweet” rolls off my tongue often. Also, as time goes on, I’m aware that the bartender is the same guy I had words with last year over a cocktail made wrong. As I’m eating, more of the interaction comes to my mind. I’m not enjoying this at all. To top it off, someone around me was vaping. There is a particular vape pen that has this acrid chemical smell that hits a bad memory and makes me angry. If anyone knows what brand that is, I’d love to know. Also if anyone knows the memory attached to the smell, that’d be great lol.
I can’t be out too much because the season starts slow and money is tight. So I really need to stay in today and make bracelets. They’ve been a popular thing. It’s raining so that is conducive to movies and indoors.
I will pick Derek up tonight! We both are off tomorrow and then two days of work again!
The pics I post are real. I know! Stunning. It is so beautiful here. God really outdid Himself. My favorite is the Kettle Ponds. The stillness and clarity of the water is breathtaking. The clarity is due to their lack of surface runoff and nutrient inputs.
