First of all, I’m going to declare a victory over the mouse. Perhaps preemptively. I haven’t seen it in three days nor have we caught it. So I’m going to assume it left willingly. Fingers crossed!
Training today was the last one. It’s Sunday and we’ve been going for six days now.
Today we practiced speeches and also got to eat lunch as if we were passengers.
Because of the gluten I had yesterday, I’m feeling a bit anxious. I take the time to look at the list of acceptable foods as well as ask questions. When I order I’m specific about having Celiac. Please no gluten!
But I get poisoned again.
I’m going to stick with that word. Poisoned. Because Celiac is autoimmune. My body thinks of gluten as poison.
I’m flustered. I’m somewhat surprised, yet not really. And I’m angry.
I thought I had driven home the importance of this yesterday. But apparently not.
I trying to help the company and fellow employees by educating them on Celiac. It isn’t working and I do not understand why I am not being heard.
At the end of the day, my manager comes through to talk to me. He has heard about this and is genuinely sorry it happened again.
Perhaps changes will be made.
Monday is the first run up the mountain. The new employees will ride up with some of the returning employees and practice their new skills. They will stay overnight and return on a bus tomorrow.
The schedules are out and Derek and I are headed up Thursday. We have a furlough in Denali on Friday. (WOW. Right out of the chute we get a furlough. Haha. We will make the most of it!). Then Saturday we have a DEX train from Denali to Whittier. These are my favorite runs because people are headed to their cruise having completed their land tour. They are typically excited and in a party mode.
Today we are home. Resting. It’s raining. Time to get laundry done and get ready for the first run!
Here’s hoping my longer pants come in before then!
