First, I have to update the mouse in the apartment situation. Every single noise I heard last night I thought for sure was the mouse. Every speck I saw this morning I was sure was mouse poop. But no dead mouse. Sadness for me.
Today was training for individual positions.
We arrived at 8am to a rainy and slightly muddy rail yard. I hate mud.
We divide up based on our positions on different train cars. As a returning bartender, I know what the job entails. But I paid attention to the few changes.
I did show up with my black boots and my short black pants. Thankfully they at least looked somewhat trendy being so short. This is important. lol. I hope to get my good pants and my shoes tomorrow! I was relieved that nothing was said. I don’t always like to follow the rules but I don’t want to stick out in an insubordinate way. I’m respectful.
Derek was immediately whisked away on a bus for a field trip. So when it came to lunch, I was in my own. And despite chatting with people throughout the morning, I’m not included in any lunch plans. I’m ok with this. Thankfully I had two beef jerky’s and some fruit snacks, as I didn’t have a car.
Bartenders ended up practicing cutting fruit for garnishes. As returners we could just watch. But I did snag some limes as I have some tequila at home and produce is pricey up here! Plus the mouse situation is stressful.
It is 4pm and the sun is out. It feels good. I’m reminded that just like last year, it seems to be warmest around 5-5:30pm.
Tomorrow we have a shorter day that concludes with a presentation by Denali Brewing at 1pm. I hope to snag some cider at that time! Also stickers. Alaska has some awesome stickers (and socks too!).
Please think of us as we battle this mouse. Lol. He/she is really stealing my joy as it’s hard to relax. (There is a cat that I’ve seen outside so I say this cat isn’t doing its job if this mouse is alive lol).
