Off the Rails in Alaska

Join me on a journey through my adventurous summer in Alaska – where work meets wilderness and every day is a wild ride!

Short Day!

Today we only had to be at the rail yard for a couple hours. We are getting our uniforms.

I threw my black pants and shoes away at the end of last season because they were worn. I neglected to get these items in time for tomorrow when we have to show up in uniforms. It’s practice for the days we are on the train.

I’ll be wearing a black pair of pants that are way too short and my black boots. Neither of which are acceptable. I should have planned better. But it will be ok for a day.

After we get our uniforms, we make a couple stops before heading home.

When we arrive home, I’m looking forward to relaxing on the couch until the Nuggets’ game starts. I’ve brought some crafts and I’m excited to spend some time working on them.

As I’m walking into the living room, I see something out of the corner of my eye, blowing across the floor.

I turn my head to find that it’s not something blowing across the floor. It’s a mouse scurrying across the floor to the couch.

I let out a scream-cry.

So much for relaxing.

After unsuccessfully locating the mouse, we swept the floor and Derek vacuumed. We located a trap and set it. Eventually I sat on the couch.

Hopefully it stays out of the bedroom tonight and tomorrow morning we have a captive mouse.
