Off the Rails in Alaska

Join me on a journey through my adventurous summer in Alaska – where work meets wilderness and every day is a wild ride!

The End of the Journey

My summer working on the railroad has ended. My final train was southbound on September 16th. I cannot believe the summer is over. I cannot believe it was all real. As it has been such a fabulous journey!

I had significantly less free time than I expected to have. And when I did, I was often too tired to accomplish anything. Therefore my writing tapered off and then stopped. But I promise to fill in the gaps because I have all the stories to tell!

As I transition back to Denver, my mind wants to be anxious. But I easily tell myself that’s silly. There is no reason to be anxious about finding a job to support myself. I will find something.

This summer taught me much. I grew so much. I’m amazed at how much more confident I am in my abilities. How comfortable I am with my career choices. I am confident I can do so many different jobs. And the right one will come along.

As we are in our final week here, and the tourist season has a hard stop. We have been able to rent a car affordably and are doing touristy trips! I will share those as well.

This much I know. We have both already applied for next summer. I have fallen in love with Alaska. The beauty of it never ceases to amaze me. Constantly changing and always vivid stunning.
