Off the Rails in Alaska

Join me on a journey through my adventurous summer in Alaska – where work meets wilderness and every day is a wild ride!

God is in This. Still

After one particularly difficult trip on the train, I found myself questioning how on earth God loves everyone. How did Jesus be kind to everyone? Even the mean spirited and the idiots. (LOL)

But Jesus was. And God loves everyone.

I set out to try to be extra kind to all of the guests on the next trip. To see them as God sees them.

While I was able to see people as perhaps dealing with more than I knew, it was challenging to be nice to people who snapped at me or to those who were passive aggressive. (Passive aggressive is a trigger to me. Something about it sends me into “Hey. Let me tell you how this is going to go now.” I don’t understand it.)

Yesterday after a very quiet group of people, some sort of grumpy, I decided I don’t always like being around people. I’m an empath and negative people wear me down quickly. Make me want to run.

Negativity rubs off on one too. Next thing you know, you’re complaining too.

So I looked at the beautiful scenery and thanked God for nature. For the beauty of it all.

One of my favorite things are the drunk trees. Melting permafrost can cause trees to lean or curve.

When I see these trees, I’m reminded of this verse from the Bible, Psalm 148, where creation praises God. It’s as if the trees are bowing to Him.

And so will I. I will continue to try to be the best representative I can for God. To be a light in the world. To praise Him in all things.

Even in the storms. Because God is good, all the time.

Even if people aren’t.

And to remember grace.
