Off the Rails in Alaska

Join me on a journey through my adventurous summer in Alaska – where work meets wilderness and every day is a wild ride!

Alaskan Husky – Sled Dog Visit

We had a furlough day on June 13. This meant we were in Healy, not home in Anchorage. We’d have the day off to do what we wanted.

Most of the excursions were booked out already or we didn’t have the proper attire for them. So we went to the sled dog kennels and the Denali Visitor’s Center.

The kennels were fun to visit. You could pet the dogs as long as they were near the fencing. It was amazing to watch them. So well behaved and trained.

When it was time to do the sled dog run demonstration, the dogs got so excited. They knew what was ahead and they couldn’t wait! Voicing their joy with barks and yaps.

The demonstration was just the right amount of time. About 30 minutes.

We then headed back to the bus to get to the visitor’s center where we would catch the shuttle to the homestead.

This is a great excursion. I recommend it. Especially for dog lovers or families!
