Off the Rails in Alaska

Join me on a journey through my adventurous summer in Alaska – where work meets wilderness and every day is a wild ride!

First Friday – training

We did it! We got up, got ourselves ready, and caught an Uber to the library where training was taking place today.

I was mistaken in that I thought since it was a training day there would be water and/or coffee. I was wrong. I won’t make that mistake again.

It was very hard for me to sit all day and listen to people while sitting in an auditorium chair. I grew fidgety by lunchtime. It felt good to get out and walk to lunch.

The afternoon was equally difficult. By the end of the day I was starting to make comments under my breath. Because I can’t not talk for an entire day. Haha!

We were both tired by the time we got home. Surprised it was only 8pm, we tried to stay up a little later.

Tomorrow’s training is at the rail yard and has different sections to attend. I will be moving around and participating. That will help me to focus and not be so fidgety!

Below is a picture of my lap at the beginning of the training and Derek’s lap. I’m on the left. It’s a good visual of an ADHD learner!

Also, turns out Alaskan plaid IS a thing. And it was abundant at the training. As were beanies. I’ve posted a couple of pics just for fun.
